Homemade Disinfectant with Grapefruit and Lemon Juice

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water (distilled or boiled)*
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup castile soap
  • 20 drops grapefruit essential oil

Instructions

  1. Pour the water into a glass or BPA free spray bottle (before the oil to prevent bubbles).
  2. Pour in the lemon juice.
  3. Add the castile soap.
  4. Add the grapefruit essential oil.

Recipe Notes

Using distilled or boiled water diminishes bacteria and other impurities in the water.

*You can use vinegar instead of lemon juice if you like.

* You could also use lemon essential oil.

* If you do not have grapefruit essential oil for this homemade disinfectant, place the rind from 1 or 2 grapefruits into 2 cups of vinegar in a mason jar and let it sit for 2 weeks. You can then use this as a substitute for the water and grapefruit essential oil. You can also omit the lemon juice, or you can leave it as it may help to minimize the smell of the vinegar.
