Homemade Eczema Cream with Aloe Vera Gel

  • 3/4 c coconut oil
  • 1/3 c cocoa butter
  • 1 oz beeswax
  • 1 tsp vitamin E oil
  • 10-20 drops or more of lavender essential oil
  • 1 c aloe vera gel

  1. Use a double boiler on low-medium heat. To make a double boiler, fill a pot half full with water then place a steel bowl on top. If you don't have a steel bowl, you can use a mason jar.
  2. Place the coconut oil, cocoa butter and beeswax in the bowl and heat until melted (will turn to oil).

  3. Remove oils from heat and add vitamin E oil.

  4. Let the oils cool until they turn into a gel-like substance. Make sure you stir it occasionally so the oils don't harden.*
  5. When the oils are slushy, slowly add the aloe vera gel and mix with a hand mixer.

Recipe Notes

*Make sure you do not let the oils harden past a slushy consistency or you will not be able to combine the aloe vera gel and oils as they will just separate. No amount of mixing will fix this.

*You can use a different essential oil if you like. Lemon, lemongrass, orange and tea tree essential oils are also good choices since they are helpful in healing and nourishing the skin.

*I made this homemade eczema cream specifically for my hands. However, I also use it on my face sometimes, as well as all over my body. It makes my face and skin feel incredibly soft, and this softness lasts all day long!

*This homemade eczema cream is a bit greasy when first applied. Yet, that greasy feeling doesn't last long because it is quickly absorbed.
