Enjoy this delicious paleo hot chocolate that is dairy free, lactose-free and refined sugar-free, and even creamier than regular hot cocoa.
Paleo hot chocolate with coconut milk
Winter is the perfect time of year to enjoy a warm drink. What’s better during the coldest time of the year, especially on a really chilly day? Of course, I’m talking about hot chocolate or, as some people refer to it, hot cocoa. In particular, I’m talking about homemade hot chocolate.
I don’t know about you, but there’s nothing I enjoy more than to curl up on the sofa with my blankie, a hot chocolate and to settle in for a movie with my family; I particularly enjoy this in the afternoon or early evening. This is my idea to the end of a perfect winter day. What does your perfect (winter) day look like?
No funny stuff
There’s no funny stuff in this paleo hot chocolate. As my husband says, funny as in ha ha or funny as in weird? Of course I mean funny as in weird, because food companies really do add some ‘weird’ (and unhealthy) ingredients in their food. Store-bought brands are loaded with (refined) sugars, such as corn syrup, as well as modified milk ingredients. This diy hot chocolate does not contain any of those unhealthy ingredients.
My homemade hot chocolate is dairy-free, lactose-free and free of refined sugar. In addition, it only takes a few minutes to make. So snuggle up and enjoy the chocolaty goodness of my creamy paleo hot chocolate and stay nice and cozy this winter.
This deliciously creamy paleo hot chocolate is dairy-free, lactose-free and refined sugar-free.
- 1 c coconut milk or other dairy free milk such as almond
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp of vanilla
- 2 tbsp of maple syrup or honey
- dash of celtic sea salt
Combine ingredients in saucepan on medium-high heat until steaming and until clumps are gone. Enjoy!
*I did not use canned coconut milk in this paleo hot chocolate because I tried it once and it made me feel a little sick because it was so creamy. It might have just been a fluke. Feel free to try it if you like though.
Please share if you know someone who might love this recipe. Thanks! 🙂
