How to Detox Heavy Metals
First, why do you to do a heavy metal detox? There are a few reasons why you should detox heavy metals.
Why Do a Heavy Metal Detox?
The reasons you should detox heavy metals (at least now and again, if not on a daily basis) is because heavy metals:
1. Trigger chronic illness and Autoimmune Conditions
The most important reason to do a heavy metal detox is because heavy metals trigger chronic illness and Autoimmune Conditions – they’re not the cause, but they are a trigger, meaning they cause chronic illness and autoimmune conditions in conjunction with other things.
2. Feed pathogens
Heavy metals feed pathogens. Pathogens such as viruses and bacteria – yes, heavy metals actually feed viruses. There are other things that feed pathogens as well such as certain foods.
3. Burden the immune system
Heavy metals burden the immune system. What happens is, heavy metals can get into your brain. I’ve recently discovered one of the ways in which this happens. Heavy metals are added to vaccines. They’re added to vaccines in order to kind of kickstart the vaccine. Because unless you’re putting a live virus in the vaccine, you need to kind of trigger it somehow and heavy metals can do that, which follows what I just said – that heavy metals feed viruses and other pathogens.
They also put a chemical called glyphosphate in vaccines. Glyphosphate actually opens up your blood-brain barrier. The aluminum and mercury in vaccines get inside your brain.
What happens when these metals get in your brain is some metals can be there for a long time – for years and years – and eventually they start to oxidize, which means they corrode. When heavy metals corrode, they cause damage to nearby tissue and this causes inflammation in the brain.
These neurotoxins can actually inflame and irritate the central nervous system and this can cause all kinds of conditions such anxiety, depression, Bipolar Disorder, etc.
Alzheimer’s, for example, is 100% caused by mercury in the brain. Autism is caused by mercury and aluminum in the brain.
Those are some very important reasons why you need to detox heavy metals.
What Foods Remove Heavy Metals?
There are certain foods that are important and necessary for detoxing. So, what foods remove heavy metals, how do they work and why are they important?
Barley grass juice powder extracts heavy metals from your spleen, from your pancreas, from your intestinal tract, from your thyroid – this is really important for people who have thyroid issues – and from your reproductive system.
Barley grass juice powder also prepares the heavy metals for complete absorption by spirulina.
A lot of people use chlorella but spirulina does a much better job removing heavy metals because it hangs on to them until it leaves your body whereas chlorella doesn’t.
Spirulina soaks up all the heavy metals that were extracted by the barley grass juice powder. Spirulina is an algae. It draws heavy metals from your brain, from your central nervous system and from your liver.
Cilantro is helpful because it extracts heavy metals that have been in your body for years. Some people don’t like the taste of cilantro but the more you dislike it, the more you need it unfortunately.
But if you really cannot stand cilantro, then you can make omit it.
I’m talking specifically about wild blueberries, not cultivated blueberries. The reason is because wild blueberries contain special nutrients for detoxing.
Wild blueberries are amazing for drawing heavy metals out of your brain and they help to reverse oxidative damage.
This is a seaweed. Atlantic dulse binds to heavy metals and holds on to them until they’re released from your body.
Atlantic dulse is also very powerful for removing mercury on its own.
Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
The best way to incorporate all of these foods is with a heavy metal detox smoothie.
This heavy metal detox smoothie recipe is not my recipe. This recipe comes from the Medical Medium.
- 2 bananas
- 2 cups wild blueberries
- 1 cup cilantro
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 tsp barley grass juice powder
- 1 tsp spirulina
- 1 handful Atlantic dulse
Mix all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
*If you want more liquid, you can add a bit of water, coconut water or orange juice.
*I always recommend organic ingredients.
*This recipe is safe for kids – give them the size of serving they would usually drink of any drink. If they won’t drink it (or can’t drink it), mix it in with some fruit (mashed banana, mashed pear, applesauce).
*It’s recommended that you at least add three of these foods to your diet daily. You can eat them separately throughout the day instead if you like.
*You can have this smoothie daily and forever if you like. It’s delicious and it’s really helpful if you at least do it once in a while. I recommend if you are sick, then you will want to have this smoothie daily until you’re starting to feel better, along with other healing methods.

Look for cilantro in the organic produce section at your local grocery store.
Atlantic dulse you also may be able to find at your local grocery store. If not, you can get Atlantic dulse flakes on Amazon.
*I recommend Vimergy barley grass juice powder over any other barley grass juice powder (I recommend this brand for all other ingredients as well) but it’s very expensive, which is why I offered the above recommendation instead. However, when you are making your decision, keep in mind that you would only use a small amount each day for the heavy metal detox smoothie.
