This homemade body wash with coconut milk and lavender is easy to make and contains all natural ingredients.
Homemade body wash
This homemade body wash with coconut milk is silky smooth and lathers really well. Coconut milk is a staple in my home. I use it for cooking, baking and in my homemade DIY personal care recipes. I think it should be a staple in every home – it is so versatile.
As usual, this recipe is made with only a few ingredients. It is very simple to make, however it requires you to chill the coconut milk overnight.
This DIY body wash with coconut milk contains castile soap as well. If you have not gotten yourself some castile soap, I strongly suggest you buy some and give it a try. It is not expensive and you can use it to make many beauty and cleaning products. It is safe and environmentally friendly.
I used lavender castile soap in this homemade body wash, but you could also use baby unscented castile soap and add your own essential oils. I would suggest adding 2 drops of essential oils per 5 ml of liquid. You could also use a combination of essential oils.
Use it as shampoo as well
This homemade body wash will be thinner than commercial body wash. Although, you’ll only need to use a little at a time. I usually use a pump bottle and use 2-3 squirts. It lathers well and it will lather more and more as you wash.
It works well as a shampoo as well. In fact, since I’ve been using it, my hair has gotten much thicker (my hair has always been really thin). An added bonus!
The vitamin E oil is very nourishing to the skin and it also helps to preserve this homemade body wash. Since it is made with coconut milk, you may want to keep it in the fridge and use a little at a time (I recommend transferring some to a smaller bottle). It should keep in the fridge for at least a month.
Now, without further ado, here is another super quick, super easy recipe!
- 1 can of coconut milk
- 3/4 c of castile soap*
- 1 tsp of vitamin E oil*
Scrape the coconut milk out of the can into a bowl.*
Add 3/4 cup of castile soap.
Add vitamin E oil.
Transfer mixture to a glass or (BPA free) plastic container.
*If you are not up for making your own, I recommend this kind.
