My diy eczema cream works immediately and promotes healing. It contains only four non-toxic ingredients.
DIY eczema cream with zinc oxide
This diy eczema cream began as a recipe for homemade diaper cream. However, I ended changing that recipe to a much simpler version. However, both work very well for diaper rash and eczema. In fact, when I apply this recipe to my son’s diaper rash, the next time I change his diaper, the rash is gone! No joke. It works equally well for eczema. Although, if the rash or eczema is very severe, you will need to reapply multiple times for healing to occur.
Healing eczema for good
Healing eczema needs to occur from the inside out. You need to heal your gut. That’s how I healed severe eczema. I discovered which foods did not agree with me, I removed them from my diet and I added supplements. I am happy to say that my (severe) hand eczema is gone!
The ingredients in this diy eczema cream are coconut oil, shea butter, vitamin E oil and zinc oxide.
Vitamin E oil is also very moisturizing and nourishing for the skin.
What is zinc oxide?
Zinc oxide is made from a combination of zinc and oxygen molecules. Thus, it is not naturally-occurring. However, it offers many benefits for the skin including anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and collagen-producing benefits, among others. In addition, it acts as a barrier that locks in moisture (source).
Be sure to purchase non-nano zinc oxide as nanonized zinc oxide is thought to be laced with toxins and possibly carcinogenic.
Also, as with many powders, zinc oxide can be harmful if inhaled so experts recommend wearing a mask when using it in homemade products.
- 60 mg organic extra virgin coconut oil
- 30 mg raw shea butter
- 1/2 tsp vitamin E oil
- 7.5 mg zinc oxide
- 5 mg beeswax
Add coconut oil, shea butter and beeswax to a double boiler (on medium heat).
Once oil, shea butter and beeswax has melted, remove from heat and add vitamin E oil. Add zinc oxide and stir well. Use a spatula and scrape the mixture into a glass container with a lid.
*To make a double boiler, place a half-full pot of water on medium heat. Add shea butter to a stainless steel bowl and place on top of the pot.
*You should use a scoop or a spoon to scoop it out (not your fingers) and either wash it or discard it after using and use a new one next time - using your fingers can add bacteria to the cream.
*Recipe makes about three ounces of diaper cream.
Please share if you know someone who needs this recipe. Thanks! 🙂
